The last two daughters have been lost, but one of them must have moved to
Forest Co., PA, as that is where James CANNON's second wife died in 1887.
Henry CANNON (1816-1853) also spelled his name CANON. His children were:
John R. (1839-1918)
Mary L. (1841-?)
Jefferson F. (1843-1915)
James K. (1846-1908)
Solomon H. (1845-1868)
William H. (1848-?)
Jacob D. (1851-1870)
Henry's family reportedly moved to Tenino Co., WA.
My gggrandmother was Olive CANNON SMITH, who was a schoolteacher in Sullivan
County, NY, circa 1840's.
I would appreciate hearing from anyone related to these CANNONs. I have
connected with a cousin from Cornelius B. CANNON's line, and we have much to
share on descendants and ancestors, as well as info on the BAIRD connection!!

I am looking for more information on Edward Cannon born about 1845 on
the Isle of Man. He may have lived for a while near Lancaster PA before
moving to Ohio. He died in Canal Fulton Ohio in April of 1885. Was he
the son of Thomas Cannon and Jane Phipps?
Does anyone have access to the index of Naturalizations for Lancaster Co
PA? I would like to see if Edward was Naturalized there. He would have
been there around 1860 - 1884.
Thanks,
Joe Cannon
Cousins,
116 CANNON cousins are on this list. If we post our lines and our queries,
I'll bet some of us could connect, and increase our chances of finding our
ancestors. Within the last two weeks, five descendants of an ancestor of
another surname - about whom I have been posting for over a year (with NO
success) - have connected!!
PLEASE post your "most wanted" CANNON ancestors to the list within the next
week!! Please remember to include the location and dates for these
ancestors, if known.
Carol
Does anyone have access to the 1880, 1890, 1900 census for Crosby, Tx; or
Callahan and Lavaca Counties??
If so would someone look and see how many Cannon's there are listed; and
who are they, please.
Thank You, Beverly
I'm hoping someone out there has some data on Henry Cannon who was
born abt 1800-10 in North Carolina, he is listed on 1850 census of
Santa Rosa, Co., Fl. By 1860 and 1870 , he is found on Walton Co., Fl
census listed as a Shoemaker. I have connection to his son John
Cannon born 1830-5 in NC. Johns daughter Margaret born 1860 Walton
Co., married my g-uncle Peter Gates 1880. Would appreciate any
connection to Henry.

Ancestors Found!
Old Bible & papers
I purchased an old Bible in an antique store and would like to share the
info with an interested family member. Embossed on the cover of the
Bible is the name Gertrude M. Cannon. Inside is written "July 23, 1945,
With all my love, Mother". There is nothing else written in the Bible,
but there are two loose pieces of paper containing genealogical
information: (1) A telegram to Walter & Dorothy Cannon of Garden Grove,
CA, informing them of the death of Tillie Keogh, sent by Marie A. Keogh
Swan of Oceanside, NY. (2) A handwritten obituary of Alice Gertrude
Parkey b. Dec. 25, 1859 MI, m. 1st Wm. Hobey 1881 and had 3 children;
William, Blanche & Charles. Married 2nd Avery Sterling 1888 and had 2
children; Dorthea and Theodore. Died Oct. 11, 1915.
If anyone belongs to this family I would be happy to send the Bible,
telegram and obit to them for my cost. I paid $5 for the Bible and I
would imagine it would cost a couple of dollars to mail it. There is
more information in the obit & telegram than I have copied here. Sure
hope someone recognizes this family. I made the purchase in the hope of
being able to return it to an interested family member.

Cousins,
Hope all of you are having a successful search!! As always, if you get
multiple copies of this post, that means you are on more than one of the
lists I manage - the posts are identical, so delete all but this one.
PLEASE READ this one!!
If you have genealogy/local history books you no longer need and would like
to sell, if you are a part of a local historical society that has materials
for sale, or if you are looking for some new materials, you might enjoy one
of the Gen-Mat lists at this server. To join, send SUBSCRIBE in the message
part of a post to GEN-MAT-L-request(a)rootsweb.com or to
GEN-MAT-15-L-request(a)rootsweb.com (the list for materials/services priced
$15 or under).
If, while you are researching your ancestors, you encounter plantation
information - slave data - in wills, deeds, or other documents, please send
it to SLAVEINFO-L(a)rootsweb.com so that African-American cousins who are
seeking their ancestors might have a better chance of success. If you have
a copyrighted book with such info and are willing to do lookups, please post
that fact to the list, also. Some of you sent data a few months ago when I
was planning to have a website for that purpose, but this will be even
better, I think, since the archives of that list can be accessed by those
who want the information. Any of you who might also want to join that
list can do so by sending SUBSCRIBE in the message part of a post to
SLAVEINFO-L-request(a)rootsweb.com
The genealogy lists are only going to work for us if we POST, POST,
POST...........
Send ALL the information you know about the ancestor you are trying to find
when you post a query. Use a very clear subject line so that a cousin will
not delete your post without reading it because she thinks it does not
relate to her.
If you find data that you think others on the list might want to see, post
it - maybe someone will do the same for you about your ancestor!
If you have a resource and are willing to do lookups for the cousins on your
list, post that fact to the list. Maybe a cousin on the list will do
lookups in a book that mentions your ancestor.
If you think of a good way for those of us on a list to work together on a
project, suggest it to the list, volunteer to help with it - if we all use
our talents and our effort to work together, we will find more ancestors. I
see this happening on a couple of small lists and on one large list, and
much progress is being made on all three! These are OUR lists for finding
OUR ancestors, and they will only be as productive as we make them.
REMINDER - If you have not sent your snailmail address to me (privately, of
course), please do so in case you go offline and a cousin wants to contact
you about your ancestor. Use the subject line SNAILMAIL.
Also - if you need to contact me about anything having to do with the list
you are on, please use my name - CAROL - as the subject line, so that I will
read it as soon as I download it. Be sure to mention the name of the list
you are on in your post. If I do not respond within 24 hours, resend it,
because that would mean it was lost in cyberspace, my reply to it was lost
in cyberspace, or some such.
Let's find some ancestors!!
Carol
Hello all,
I am triying to find information on the following Cannon line. This has eluded our family for many years. I suspect John Cannon's family immigrated from Europe, but that is a hunch. Any help would be much appreciated!!!

Cousins,
I am looking for information about Jackson and Elizabeth Cannon. Jackson
was b. ca 1770 in NC. Their first three children (two boys and a girl)
were also b. in NC; the third, my ancestor Wiley Jackson CANNON, was b. in
1817 in Columbus County. A fourth child - a son - was possibly born after
the family moved to GA.
Wiley Jackson CANNON m. Anna King Sep. 30, 1835 in Talbot Co, GA.
Any assistance on this line will be very much appreciated, and descendant
information shared.

I have reached a dead end on finding the parents and siblings of
Samuel H. Cannon, born 1805 in S.C. He was in St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana
by 1825, where he married Margaret E. Joiner (Joyner), dau. of Absolom
Joyner and Zelpha Galloway, also possibly from S.C. Their known children
were named Samuel Thompson, Thomas Green D., Sarah, charles and John George.
Any leads on S.H.'s parents and siblings would be most appreciated.......
