Hello. Just joined this group, to inquire about getting the DNA tests done. I so far see
that familytreedna is out there, and a dnaancestry web site. My question is, can anyone
advise as to which of these two is superior, and give reasons for that conclusion?
Also, do these separate DNA companies cross-pollinate? That is, do they share data one
with the other? Or is there a central repository for the DNA results?
The family tree DNA site claims to have some 47 Cannon DNA samples, but only 3 or 4 appear
to be the clan in which I am interested, and even so, the results may relate to distant
cousins from a more recent century than that in which I am rooting around.
Thus, if I submit DNA to them, it doesn't look as if I'll get very far, just
confirmation that there is a group out there that's mine. That's it. I
didn't check out dna ancestry.
My guess is that the two DNA testing companies, being in competition, do not share
results. Thus the question, is there a central repository of Cannon DNA results?
Are there other testing companies with more extensive result data bases?
