Your connection may be found by going back generation by generation, seeing the Wills of
each Canning. They are available to one and all. One of my Canning cousins has 150 of
them...kin and non kin. We are not all related, for surnames can come from a person just
being from say Canning Town. And...forget those coats of arms...most are phoney with no
documented background. Also, only the eldest male in the pre-eminent family may use them.
Remember, Land did not pass by Will, but by Law, but there are so many exciting and
interesting things in the Wills, you really do need the line right back from say your
grandfather. It is much easier to go BACK step by step by generation than to start way
back with some famous person. Remember, document each fact as if you were going to have
to present it in a court of law. Otherwise, it isn't FACT.
