I hope someone will be able to help me find more info about my CANNING family. I would
appreciate any leads you may
offer. The following info is from the 1880 Census.
Thomas CANNING married Annie ( name unknown ) both born around 1828 in Ireland ( don't
know where ) They were
Catholic. They Immigrated to Philadelphia PA around mid-1800's. Thomas was a
Shoemaker. Thomas and Annie's
children were:
1 - Terrance - born around 1853 in Philadelphia PA. He
worked in a Woolen Mill.
2 - Frank - born around 1857 in Philadelphia PA. He worked
in a Woolen Mill.
3 - John - born around 1859 in Philadelphia PA. He worked in
a Woolen Mill.
4 - Dannal - born around 1861 in Philadelphia PA. He worked
in a Cotton Mill.
* 5 - Robert Emmet - born October 4, 1863 in Philadelphia
PA. He worked in a Cotton Mill and later was a
Landscape Architect and Florist for the Catholic Church.
6 - Mary - born around 1865 in Philadelphia PA.
7 - James - born around 1872 in Philadelphia PA.
* Robert Emmet Canning I - married Elvira ( Ella ) Ennis -
born October 1864. Their Children were:
1 - Lawrence
2 - Elvira M ( Ella ) - married Francis F. Whitmarsh
3 - Robert Emmet II - married Agnes Ida Chandler
Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
