I am investigating the Canning family who lived in Bristol in 19th century.
James Canning (Cab Driver) b. 1849 & Emily (nee Bessant) (Tailoress) b. 1849.
Children: Rosina, Ada, John, May, Annie, Ethel, Frederick, Lily, Elsie Maud, Emily,
George, Margaret. James
Family lived in Upper York Street in 1901 but prior to this lived in Recliffe area
(Brickyard)area of Bristol.
Parents: James Canning, a farrier, (b. 1810) & Hannah Thorn (b. 1821), a tailoress,
Children: Elizabeth, Mary Ann, Eliza, James, Sarah, Henry, George Ann , John. Lived in
Temple parish within Redcliffe.
There is evidence to suggest that John Canning (b. 1786 in Frampton -on -Severn) married
to Mary Tucker (b.1792 Bristol)were parents of James. Other children were:
Elizabeth,Mary Ann, Eliza, William,
Henry Charles, Sarah, Anne, George, Mary Jane
John Canning believed to be son of John Canning & Anne Hewlett from Frampton-on Severn
Interested if anyone is a descendant or has information pre-1800 on this family.
