Thanks for getting it touch. I have been in touch with someone called Kaz vis Genes
Reunited, who has told me all about some of the Cardiff Canning strand of the family.If

My grandmother was Elsie Maud Canning b1899. Her parents were: James Canning (Cab Driver)
b. 1849 & Emily (nee Bessant) (Tailoress) b. 1849. Siblings:

John b. 1882 Coal Haulier
May b. 1884 Paper Packer
Annie b. 1886

Family lived in Upper York Street in 1901 but prior to this lived in Recliffe area
(Brickyard). The Brickyard was near Cheese Street & Bread Street - an area between Old
Market & Temple Meads - not far from Gardiner Haskins. (Maps in Bristol Museum show
the location.)
She was grand-daughter of : James Canning, a farrier, (b. 1810) & Hannah Thorn (b.
1821), a tailoress, (b.1817) Children: Elizabeth, Mary Ann, Eliza, James, Sarah, Henry,
George, Ann , John. Lived in Temple parish within Redcliffe.
