Hello,
I stumbled across your query by accident when looking into the origin of the Canning name.
My name is Brian Canning and James Canning and Hannah Thorn were my great great great
grandparents. Their son George (born approx 1838) was the elder brother of the James to
which you refer, and my great great grandfather. The mention of Temple and Brickyard
caught my attention as I have a birth certificate relating to my great grandfather where
their address is given as 6 Brickyard, Bristol. My side of the family moved to S Wales in
the 1880's altho they kept in touch with the Bristol side of the family into the
1940's when the link was lost. Unfortunately I do not have any info on pre 1800
descendants at this time, but was very interested in your info. You said you were
interested in any descendants, and it may interest you to know the family is very much
alive and well (and there are quite a few of us)in the Cardiff area. I do hope you pick up
this link. What is your connectio!
n?
Regards,
Brian Crawford Canning
