Hello Betty, sorry I have not replied before this....I didn't realise but I had not
set up my emails properly and wasn't receiving these......
I would love to email or write to the the Rev Canning, thank you for your help.
We are just off to camp out for a few days but when I get back will get in contact again.
Some of my ancestors , the William & Deborah Groom family, used to live next door to
the Cannings in the 1880- 1900's and seemed to know them well. There was a story about
them being wealthy and having lots of servants etc (this may be exaggerated in the memory
of my great grandfather who was a teenager at the time and remembering back from his
70's , having never seen them in the intervening years). He remembered a daughter
called Emily which obviously isn't the right name anyway, a "pretty
redhead", who (he said) ran off with one of the stablehands and was banished fromm
the family. I suspect this is not quite the truth but anyway wondered what the real story
was.
Anyway ,ust go for now but wille in contact soon.
