Not my Canning, either, but you moved me to check him out in UK Who's Who of
which I have a 1931 edition.
The gentleman's name appears to have been George Robert Canning Harris, 4th
Baron Harris, so probably of more interest to Harris researchers than to
Canning ones. He seems to have had a distinguished career in the Indian
civil service and to have been admired as a cricketer. His son and heir,
in 1931, was shown as The Hon Capt George St Vincent Harris, but he was born
1889, so is presumably no longer available to be asked about Dad's
connection with the Cannings. There is an 8th Baron Harris briefly listed
in Who's Who 2001 but without a mailing address.

Thanks for that. I am afraid it isn't my Canning but it was interesting.
