Hi Barbara
I'm interested in knowing more about the Thomas in your family. Can you tell me more about him? I'm looking for
my GGGrandfather. I don't know what part of Ireland he came
from, only that he may have come around the time of the Famine. He married Mary?? and they were Catholic. They
had a son, Robert Emmet Canning, born October 4, 1863, in
Philadelphia. I would appreciate any info you may have.
Thanks Marcia

Hi Simon
My Great Grandfather was Robert Emmet Canning, whose
Father was Thomas Canning and his Mother is listed as
Mary ?? Both Thomas & Mary were born in Ireland, but I
don't know where. From seeing your other messages, I've
noticed your family was Protestant; mine was Catholic. I think they came to America around the time of the Famine. From all your research & time on the message boards, have you found any info that could help me? Let me tell you also, that Robert Emmet ( b- October 4,1863 in Philadelphia PA, d- January 26, 1923 in Philadelphia PA) married Elvira Ennis. I don't know anything of her history, except she was Protestant and insisted on raising her children as such. Their children were 1- Robert Emmet Canning II ( b- December 21, 1889 in Philadelphia PA, d- October 24, 1971, in New Castle, Delaware) 2- Lawrence Canning (don't have info) and 3- Elvira (Ella) Canning ( b- June 4, 1888 in PA, d- January 29, 1971 in Dade Co. North Miami Beach, Florida). Robert Emmet Canning married Agnes Ida Chandler ( b- December 20, 1898 in Gradyville PA d- May 13,1962 in Delaware) They had my Dad, Robert Emmet Canning III and six other children. If you have any info or advice, I would gre!
atly
appreciate it. Thanks Marcia
