Short version of this email: Timeline has a lot of stuff on it; here's the link:

Long version: I made a big deal about only posting to one list when I announced
Henry's Timeline project. That was because I thought there would be a lot of feedback
and it would work best to keep it on the KINNEY list - since it has the most subscribers
-and to not have too many duplicate postings. However, what happened was, no posts on the
list/s but many private emails to me. Several people have provided information and
continue to do so (they are noted on the Timeline).
When I proposed the Timeline, I pictured a modest little project. Over the years, I had
saved about a dozen posts from people like Jeff Green and Mark Vernon - posts with
transcriptions from reliable books - and I thought I'd put them all together and over
time, as we found reliable sources, we'd add a scan of the source, etc. to the
Timeline and it would be on the web for all. But - oh my! It's amazing what is
online - and more is added daily. In a couple of instances, while asking for a scan or
to be mailed a copy of something, a day or two later someone would report the item was
online - free!
Hence, the Timeline is quite unwieldy and that does not include about 30 items from a
Salem Village Record Book that one of the volunteers is working on right now (it's
online and she's extracting Henry items). Hence, the Timeline continues to be messy
and will probably be so for a while. It's a bit hard to tell the forest from the
trees right now but some may want to check it out again. The bottom line about Henry to
date is:
1) date/place/birth/baptism, names of parents, earlier ancestry, immigration - still NO
EVIDENCE
2) he was not always well behaved - that's omitted in most known genealogies
3) many spelling variations in early records but no sign of the KINNE variation in any -
noted here because I find that amusing since Robertson and earlier genealogies use this as
the primary spelling variation (my guess is the descendants using the KINNE variation by
ca. 1900 were the most active/affluent)
Another reason to check out the Timeline is to see the links to online material (e.g.,
Sidney Perley's The History of Salem, Massachusetts - 3 Volumes). You may be
interested in those resources for your other lines in the area
Many thanks to all of you who are contributing information! By the way, starting next
Wednesday, I may not have computer access for a couple of weeks. If you respond on the
lists and/or send more items, be patient if you don't hear back from me for a while.
