Hi, Afraid I can't help with maiden name of Jerome Cannell's wife who was
married in
about 1733 in Kent County, MD. but I can say that it is a known fact that the
Cannell's who came up to London England's East End from Canterbury Kent were
originally from France and were refugees from the French Holy Wars, their
occupations were on the most part Loom Weavers. Jerome was a christian name
much used in French refugee families. One know families ancestery goes as
follows:-
Jerome Cannell born France = ? DuHennell their son was named Abraham Cannell
born about 1630 in France he married Marqueritte Maes daughter of Phillippe
Maes and Anthonnet Harnicque on 3rd February 1658/9 in Canterbury Kent
England, their children were Jacob baptised 8.9.1667 in Canterbury Wallon or
Strangers Church
also Jaques on 5.9.1669, Michee on 11.6.1671, Benjamin 14.3.1674, Jean
28.10.1677, Esther 2.9.1683, it is also thought that Isaac 1660 was another
of their children, but as far as I know not proven as yet. Their son Benjamin
went to Ireland
and there married Sarah DeCassell, daughter of Abraham DeCassell and Marie
Michel, in the church of St. Patrick & St. Mary Dublin Ireland, on 17th
September 1696. Benjamin's occupation at the time of his marriage was Carder
of the Wool Fleece. Another Cannell family who came to Canterbury Kent from
France was Isaac Cannell widower who's second marriage was to Marie DesCamps
daughter of Simon
DesCamps & Madeline Hermite which took place in Canterbury Kent on 28th June
1688. Marie DesCamps was born in Guisnes France, they had a least two children
both baptised in the Huguenot French Church, Threadneedle Street London
England
their names were Benjamin Cannell Baptised 1702 and Abraham baptised 1707.
Hope this information might help a little with
your research.
