Good day all. Please read the following reference Tracing a Family Member
as it gives Rootsweb's stand on the matter. I'm sending this as we have
some new persons on the mailing lists who may not be aware of this important
rule.
There is a 100 year rule on rootsweb lists - either you muct know
the
people you post about are deceased or they must have been born over 100
years ago. This is partly data protection (the lists are publicly
archived)
and partly personal privacy and security . IT is never advisable to
put
details of addresses etc of living people onto the internet which is why I
always advise people not to include their own addresses and phone numbers
when posting to the list or to ever include these details on their
websites. Indeed you should remove reference to anyone still living or who
may still be living when you put data on a website, on line tree or when
you send data to other resarchers.
The purpose of rootsweb genealogy lists is the tracing of ancestors not
living people I'm afraid. For living people try
http://www.192.com or
write
to the the local paper covering the area where the person in question
was
last known to have lived.

We could learn a lot from crayons: some are sharp, some are pretty, some
are dull, some have weird names, and all are different colors...but they all
have to learn to live in the same box.
