Hello David,
On the LDS film of Bishops Transcripts for Morchard
Bishop, Elizabeth Can was born to John and Anne, 13th May, 1792. She
married George Southcott at St Marys Parish, Morchard Bishop, 30th May,
1813--by banns and with consent. Peter Comyns Tucker was the minister and
Isaac Way and Joseph Bolt the witnesses. The film roll numbers are 16866 and
0916866. It is thought that her mother's maiden name was Davy/Davey.
On the IGI, the names CAN and CANN seem to be interchangeable and
Elizabeth is not on the 1841 census, whilst George is shown as a widower.
There is a death in 1841(March I think) at age 50 of an Elizabeth Southcott
which looks as if Elizabeth was deceased.
I haven't looked at your website yet, but will let you know if I see
anything of note. My Southcott married in Exeter and would have sailed from
there to OZ I expect.
Cheers,
Greg.
