If any of you are connected to the Cann line that migrated to Yarmouth, Nova
Scotia from Bristol, England my wife and I are leaving for a long-planned
trip to Yarmouth County on 2 September. We fly into Halifax, then will drive
to Yarmouth where we will stay until the 11th, when we fly to Toronto for a
personal visit then back home on the 14th. It is planned as sort of a
combination sightseeing and genealogy research trip, and among other
locations we are going to spend some time at the Yarmouth County Museum and
Archives as well as Mountain Cemetery in the city of Yarmouth.
It occurred to me that if anyone on this list has any specific research
information to look up, I might (the key word here is "MIGHT") have time to
search for a few things if you were to send me the specifics of what you
need. Please keep in mind this trip is for the purpose of my own research,
so that will be my main focus, but if time and circumstances allow it I will
try to look up a few things for you if they are not too time-consuming. No
promises, other than the fact I will take it with me and see what I can find
if time allows it, and I will send you what I have found when I return but I
cannot guarantee you a reply otherwise. I also have ancestry in Shelburne
County so may get there as well, but am not certain of that at this point. I
have a digital camera as well, so can also take digital pictures of specific
things if time allows it.
Just a suggestion, but you might want to post your request to the list
itself (I'm the List Admin) so that if someone else already has the
information you seek they may be willing to share it with you. Otherwise, I
will print your message off and take them with me if I do not see a reply on
the list. I will be taking my laptop with me, so will have intermittent
wireless connection to the Internet while I am there, so for that reason you
may not get a very quick reply from me during this period until I return
home.
