Judy - I am also researching my Canfields(Camfields) and ran across a great
LDS film which is available to us. If you go through the LDS Bibliography
and printed material section of their computers, you will run across a "ROSE
CANFIELD COLLECTION" or a "DICKERSON, CANFIELD/CAMFIELD" film(s). (Can
also
see this via your computer and
www.familysearch.com).
This is a very extensive and (so far) accurate research job on MATTHEW &
THOMAS CAMFIELD/CANFIELD of New England. These are two young men who came
from England to America in the mid-1600's and were at first thought to be
brothers, but probaby are cousins. They both were instrumental in the
colonizing certain towns and both had about 10 kids each, who also had 10
kids, etc. The writer of the work, Dr. Amos Canfield documents most all the
decendants from 1643 to 1880's and has everyone listed alphabetically by
first name. Dr. A. Canfield died in early 1900's. This information appears
as clearly printed material and another film (Dickerso/Canfield) is typed.
I recommend you get both or other related. It is a gold mine of research
information. I had just four generations back and with this film I went
back to 1643 and MATTHEW. I made copies of his line and what I see is that
so far, at a first glance, I do not see your HANNAH with WARD, but this
might mean she is related to the THOMAS CAMFIELD/CANFIELD side. So please
order this film and you will be pleasantly surprised at all the information.
It may also give you more clues to theWard side. Hannah, as you can
imagine, was quite a popular name in those days and there were several
Hannahs on both side, so you have to be careful. Good Hunting. Sandy

Subject: [CANFIELD] Hannah CANFIELD
Hi, On my pedigree, I have Elemuel WARD (b: c.1704, d: Feb 1754, and
m:
c.1733, all in Newark, Essex NJ) married to Hannah CANFIELD (b: 1708).
Since much of my pedigree is inaccurate, and I can only find Elemuel's
wife
in records listed as "Hannah" or "Mrs.Hannah
WARD", I am posting to see if
anyone might know and have more information. My local Family History
Center
(albeit a Regional one), is limited on access to NJ records without
sending
to Salt Lake City. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you, Judy
