Hi everyone, in the State Historical Society's book on North Dakota, it
mentions Mr. Thomas Hawley Canfield -- who was for many years a director of
the Northern Pacific Railway... bibliography.. Album of Biography. Red River
Valley and Park Regions, Thomas H. Canfield, 830-44.
There are also copies of letters.. Report to the Secretary of War..
an Senate Executive Documents -- Some of these letters were signed by
William F. Canfield, Superintendent Indian Industrial School (1890-91)
I will check the other volumes for more info.. maybe I can find some
more Canfield's..
Regards,
Bert Canfield

Rita.. you are so fortunate to have that book.. by Frederick
Canfield
Would you look to see if there is a George M Canfield born around
7/11/1894. It says on the 1920 census that he was born in MI... and his
mother and father which we do not have their names.. were born in NY.
He moved into SD in 1920 single without leaving any information about
his
family before he died in 1939 in Wagner , SD..
People from the area have assumed for some reason that he had worked
on
the railroads previous to moving to SD... but that could possibly be
a
"family tale". Also we have the middle name as Morris...
I sure would appreciate your time and efforts...
Sincerely, PJ Canfield
