This is so true - my father was John Canfield, sister Mary, and brother
William. Their father was Eugene, whose father was Jeremiah. My 6
brothers are Eugene, Jeremiah, William John, Thomas and David. My uncle
Bill's oldest child was William. I see the constant repeat of these
names throughout the Canfield Clan. Oh, my name is Nancy Anne Canfield.
We are all form New York.

Regarding the Thomas Canfield refereed to below, who was a director of
the Northern Pacific Railway. I hope it will be of assistance to you to
know that he was born in Arlington, Vermont, the birthplace of a large
contingent of Canfields. Ken

As you already may know, the names William and Thomas are going to
give you a lot of trouble distinguishing them among the many other men
of that era with those names. I am researching my Canfield family
and
have found great amount of specific information in the Canfield -
Rose
Canfield Collection- a body of work done circa 1890+ which includes
all Canfield's known and is alphabetized by first name. It can be
found in film form via the LDS
(Mormon) Family History Centers. You can look the film number up on
their
website:
www.Familysearch.com . This work follow both Matthew &
Sarah
Camfield and Thomas & Pheobe Camfield from 1640+. It will take a lot
of
sleuthing on your part, but it is well worth it if you can connect
your
William & Thomas to the above named Camfield men. Good hunting.

If you are researching two individuals that were married, it is
usually a good idea to send your message to both surname lists. (ie.
CANFIELD-L(a)rootsweb.com & OTHERSURNAME-L(a)rootsweb.com)
