Mrs. Alice Canfield, mother of Josephine Canfield Didlake, died in
Elko Monday afternoon at 4:30, following more than a year of absolute
helplessness, caused by paralysis. She reached her ninetieth birthday the day before she
died
Born In Richmond, Virginia in 1855 she spent her early day in the
south, and crossed the plains into Utah with the Mormons migration. For many
years she made her home with her family on a ranch near Old Promitory Point of
Salt Lake and moved to Montello, NV where she spent a long period of her life.
Survivors in addition to her daughter, Mrs. Josephine (Henry) Didlake
of Battle Mountain are two sons, Henry Canfield of Owenyo, CA and Orville
Canfield of Winnemucca; also a daughter, Mrs. Alice Ratigan of Winnemucca
survives.
Final funeral arrangement were awaiting of a son from CA. Mrs.
Canfield was cared for at the home of her daughter.
