Hi, everyone includes PJ.
I have been thinking about George Morris Canfield for a while and figured out
different puzzles to find a way to put together. I like to play around with
my mind and rethink when I moved around or walk pace. Ha. It is good for
me.
However, I remember what I have had experience about finding records sharply.
Now, I do remember what I did and forgot to add and to tell you about
finding records...
Sometimes, I did send requests to Vital Office usually. Most of time, they
sent me records or no record found, but I got ideas that I kept- sent some
requests to different offices(different location), which they found finally.
I wondered why vital office did not find anything. I did send it to same
office two or three times until they found finally. Sometimes, I have to
pick on them continuelly after I changed request specifically. Be creative if
neccessary....For an example at bottom...
You can use request on form anything for marriage, birth, death, divorce,
another type of record
My best suggestion is:
A) Different location nearby as possible... If not, then search different
location whole state
B)Societies/Archives do carry marriage, birth, death, divorce, any records
C)Range dates search(best suggestion to search all through period from old
date to present if neccessary..) and also add exact date beside search, just
in case
D)Spelling surname guess like Canfield, Ganfield something like that. Also
include first name or middle name and also explain with addition note to let
searcher know what you are looking for. Encourage search to pay attention
more slowly as possible.
E)Add anything to give clue about that person.. Birthdate would be helpful
to write down, just in case.. Parents' name can be useful to write down to
match if neccessary. Some offices search for free on phone-line, but not all
of them always. Also, write down several names of locations on form.
For an example, I requested for my great -grandmother's death certificate---
Either in Artesia or Long Beach or Whittier because my family didn't know
where she died exactly.. Finally, they found a record.
For another example, I requested Utah Vital Office--first thing, I
interviewed different offices on the phone about location(county where my
great grandfather died there because of small town) because they carried only
marriage certificate or property records. They said that I should request at
Vital Office in Salt Lake City for death certificate. I tried it for that
one because I was thinking that it is pretty far away from county(very small
town where he died). They did search all through period from old date to
present and nothing was found. I told them proof that someone wrote down
death date from my family tree and the name of location was on listing
specifically. They said sorry and could not find anything more. I figured
out about other way. I knew it and I had it before in different location
for Virginia. I was refused to be allowed to be deceived at that time! That
was it. Vital Office do not always carry all records 100%! So, I tried
Archive Office and requested on my situation that it MUST be found because
1920 is not old. It should be there like my great grandmother's deathdate:
1921 at ARCHIVES.
So, the staff did investigating it at different location(still far away from
county where my great grandfather died in) very carefully for my sake. So,
they did FOUND IT finally!!!! They sent me free document through e mail
because I already paid for it at Vital Office in SLC. Just like they were
apologize to me. I read the document and understood why abou that my great
grandfather's name was little bit vague handwriting, which they could not
read or not tell. Why don't they use magnify glass!!! Ha ha ha LOL. The
informant's name is my grandfather, a son of Lottie L. Canfield clearly and
it is perfect match. Hooray. I am trying to help you to think hard in
different ways and NOT GIVE UP THE REST OF YEAR, 2001. I think it is fun to
play around with your mind like to solve the Math problem. I love that job.
So, I did get two records from ARCHIVES TWICE in different locations. Please
do not depend on Vital Office always. What a tricky!!!!
Please do not give up UNTIL YOU FINISHED! Any questions, please feel free to
do e mail me. I would love to hear from you on feedback. It helps me a lot.
Happy New Year... 2001 is coming so soon.
