Sandy
I would love to pool info with you, except
I have very little LOL. You could be on the
same track as I am seeking. I have had no
luck whatso ever in tracking a Mae Canfield,
or possibly Beula Mae Canfield from NY, She
was My grandmother, I never met her though
as she died when my mother was very young.
She should have been born between 1889 and
1910, and married a Lloyd Pickens of Parish
NY. That is the extent I have :o(

There are a good many of us Canfield
descendants on this list, but you are only
the 2nd one that I have heard from that has
a VT possible ancestor. I have been
told that my Canfields probably are from the
VT area -- and I have also been told
by some nice person on this list that my
ancestors are from the Matthew Canfield
side (Thomas Canfield is a brother and also
had bookoo ancestors) and that from
there is a Silas Canfield (Sr. and Jr.) and
that from there it comes down the
line to Orsemus (Sr. &Jr) and we think now
that Orsemus Jr. is my Great
grandfather. I am working to establish this
connection - so this is all
speculation right now.
What I DO know is that my Orsemus Canfield
was born in 1814 NY, had a brother
Amos B. Canfield. Orsemus then went to
Indiana in 1832 and on to Three Rivers,
St. Lawrence County, Michigan. He and his
family then went to Lucas County, Iowa
with his family settling there as farmers in
1862. They were following Amos.
They remained there their entire life.
There is major works (books) on Canfield
lines that I found via the LDS and also
there is a Canfield Society that puts out
periodicals. I understand that they too
can be obtained via the LDS libraries. Hope
our group can shed some light. Good
hunting. Sandy Childs
