Jan, I have found a Clarence from Bessemer, outside of Ironwood in the 1927
directory He was a plumber and had 4 boys.. I will search to find the letter
sent to me by a "look up" who does Gogebic Co...Keep in touch.. I am
wondering what his birth date is.. it could be the George Morris is not the

I have no idea if we are looking at the same line. I've seen your
postings before and you seem certain that George Morris Canfield had no
brothers. My Clarence Grant Canfield was born 1885, but I guess they
could
have been cousins. I can't say any of the names sound familiar
because
Clarence Grant Canfield and his wife Nellie (I only know the first name,
no
other information, don't even know if this is a nickname!) are as
far back
as I can find. I don't know if you are familiar with Michigan's upper
peninsula or the Ironwood area, but the Ironwood area is a small "city"
today. In the early 1900's it was the Ironwood-Bessemer community! It
would be highly unlikely to have many Canfield's in that area. I will
keep
a watch for the names you listed and I would appreciate a note if you
find
Clarence Grant. I still have a few family members to contact and I hope
