Hello listers --
I found out where the museum is that was mentioned a few days ago. Info is
below. Does anyone on this list live in the Fremont MI area that could check
into this? Maybe obtain photographs or something?
[For those just tuning in -- the belongings of Avindo B Canfield were
donated about 30 yrs ago to an historical museum. A.B. was born in 1851, and
was the child of Minor Canfield & Jane Early, & grandchild of Hezekiah G. &
Mary Rowley Canfield. The belongings included a British Dragoon Sword that
was used by Esthram Rowley in the Revolutionary War. The individual I have
been correspnding with is not a Canfield descendant, and isnt sure how these
items came into his family's possession back around 1900 or so.]

Ron,

I believe the name of the museum, started in the early 1970s, was
something
like the Newaygo County Historical Society Museum and it was located
in
Fremont, Michigan. I don't think the Museum is still operational, but
perhaps with some investigations you will be able to locate the
Revolutionary War sword.
