Sandy, Jan's Canfield's may be related to the George Morris Canfield that I
am searching for.. None of that family from the Ironwood and Bessemer area
spoke of their family.
I often wondered if they were from Iowa myself as I just found out that
George used to go to Sioux City Iowa quite often for groceries and big
shopping and stay a day or two.. Maybe relatives were there.

Subject: Re: [CANFIELD] Canfield-Minnesota/Iowa/Michigan
Jan - Do you know anything about the area in Iowa you think they were
except "The Des Moines area"? My Canfields were from Lucas, Marion and
Monroe Counties which
are more south and east of the city of Des Moines - but still within
traveling distance. Do you have any idea where your RUTH ELLEN DUMSTREY met
CANFIELD? Did
she meet him in Minnesota or in Iowa? This might be a clue in that
he
might've come down to Iowa to visit or farm with Canfield relatives. I have
another long
shot source I will check
out to see if there is a match, but my information takes the Canfield
further back
(1800's and before) and your information is to new for me to
connect.
By the way, I understand that most the Canfields are related to the
two
brothers: Matthew and Thomas Canfield who lived in New Jersey in 1643.
There may have
been others that came over from England, but so far as I can see the
majority are decendants of those two. Give me a couple of days to check
this out and I will
get back to you. Sandy Childs

For more effective responses, make sure to include the name(s) and/or
place(s) you are researching in the subject of your message.
(ie. Hanna Adelle CANFIELD married George Hamilton PHELPS)
You might think about using UPPERCASE for surnames.
