Beverly:
Is James husband of Sara Hoyt your g+grandfather or James husband of Ann
Brower? For either I'd be interested in your descent since I have no
siblings for any members of this family between 1730 and 1814 (when my
youngest Canfield ancestor, Marie, was born).
Jackie:
For the town of Washington, I have:
LDS site:
Nathan CANFIELD Birth: 21 Jun 1806 Washington, Dutchess, New York
ancestry.com census:
1820 CANFIELD SAMUEL Dutchess County NY 143 Washington
1830 CANFIELD LEONARD Dutchess County NY 442 Washington
1850 CANFIELD JEHU Dutchess County NY 386 Washington
1860 CANFIELD JOHN Dutchess County NY 933 Washington
Good luck with the search!
Best,
Kathryn

Kathryn... and everyone,
I went through my files and found that my John Canfield was from the
Town of Washington... not Stanford, like I thought. So, the John
Canfield of Washington 1860 you mentioned is very likely the person I am
looking for. His wife, Jane (Bunnell) is my great aunt, sister of my
ggrandfather William Jackson Bunnell. I guess the next step is to look
in the NY Census for Dutchess Co. 1860. Perhaps we _are_ related in some
way. Time will tell:-). Thank you for responding... and thanks, also, to
ALL who answered. Any suggestions for further research on this family
very much appreciated... Jackie
