Glad to hear that you have found your family Addrienne. I have often
wondered if it is the GM Canfield that I am looking for.. you say that he
had more than the two children.. so possibly this is the line I am looking
for also.. do you have birthdates on the boys? PJ

Hi, Sandy C.
Thanks for patting my back. I need it!!! Ha ha ha.
Alright. I left a posted message through Genforum. Someone found it and left
a message to me on my e mail directly. She gave me all names of children. I
do not have supporting source information yet. I need it, but she got it
from someone else without using source info for endnotes. I already
encouraged her to use endnotes for future use as evidence available. It is
very helpful for me and everyone as well. That lady is great great great
granddaughter of John N. Canfield who was a sibling of my great great
grandfather George M. Canfield. Both of them were brothers. Also, there is
another cousin who is great great great great granddaughter of John N.
Canfield as same family!! She helped me also for another source informatin
for George M. Canfield, but she does not have information completely at all
for John Canfield and Deborah Norton. I am sure I will share it with her
soon because she is out of town on vacation. That lady gave me the source
information lately about John Canfield and Deborah Norton. She lives in Iowa
as other cousin lives in Iowa, but she is out of town for a while. Isn't it
so funny? Hope you understand what I mean about two different people who are
on same line.
However, I already sent several request on those family and see where I can
get it from for using endnotes. See what happens. I am sure will keep you
posted if I find something new.
I think I will work more on Canfield later after reviewing it deeply and see
what I can do or not.
Thanks to everyone for helping me through.
Wish you all Happy New Year, again!!!! Please stay safe through new year...
Your Cousin and Friend,

What a trueful thoughts about Geneieve.
It would be nice for everyone to have back up in another way than using store
in computer like copies and keep in files safe for updating. Just like
assisting to her in everything to keep files in safe place(cabinet) available
for themselves(include me of course). I know computer is easily lost by
accident. Sometimes, I worry about it. I am making sure there is no
accident when I am using computer. I am making sure that I am back up in
another file if I copy it again. Trully, I am afraid to lose it all!
I hope all of you understand my English. Sometimes, my English is not really
good.
Just my thoughts to share with everyone on Canfield's line.
All of you are very kind and sweet people to share info. My family grew
pretty well. Thanks..
Adrienne

Adrienne:
You have to join the "Canfield Family Association" to be able to ask for
information. The cost of joining is $8 per year. With membership you get a
quarterly newsletter, and you can ask for specific information, "Queries"
(if it is available). It is an excellent resource.
I believe she (Genevieve Canfield Martinson) is taking membership
applications for the year 2001. You can write to her at 1144 N. Gordon,
Wichita, Kansas, 67203
Later,
Scott Canfield
Hi, GemLion.
I am on Canfield line of Thomas and Phobe Crane. Sorry if I bother you, but
I am wondering if I can write a letter to Geneieve for questions or request,
whatever for copy records. That is what I mean.
I wonder if I should write a letter to her for information.
Thank you very much.
Adrienne

Several years ago an several offers were made to Genevieve (Canfield)
Martinson by a Association member who is computer savy and who just happens
to live 20 minutes from her to put all of the research on computer at NO
CHARGE and nothing would leave her location. She has declined every time any
offer of help in that direction.
My concern is that should anything happen to Genevieve or God forbid a fire
where she has all of the boxes of info, What then? What would happen to all
of the years of research that she has accumlated from all of the researchers.
This would be a tragic situation.
I just wonder if the Association and it's needs are being met by the way
everything is being handled by Genevieve (Canfield) Martinson and her refusal
to modernize everything.
Just my thoughts......
Am searching for any info on John BLAKE & his wife Susan CANFIELD. I believe
they may have been born/married in either Canada or VT. Son John Canfield
BLAKE was b 13 Nov 1823 Can/VT, d 27 Dec 1900 Hopkington, NH, m 14 Nov 1847
Hannah Hull MAXFIELD at Hopkington. Greatly appreciate any assistance. Thank
you!! Karen
Bev.
I am making sure I understand your point.
Do you mean that primary sources are best used fact records by society,
church, reference book and vital office than to rely on LDS??? Is that
correct?
Thank you.
Adrienne
Adrienne--oh yes, sources such as vital records, county histories, land
records are better and closer to the actual time than the LDS records!!
The LDS records are just a database of all of the above. For instance, a
film of the vital records of Hartford, CT. might be considered a good
source, but what if the camera crew missed a page, where your ancestor
was listed. Could you really say--ancestor not there??
Primary sources are closer to the actual event itself.
LDS itself has a disclaimer that their records are not verified but taken
as sent.
Only on their church records such as sealing, baptisms, etc, in their own
religion are the records scrutinized and "proven".
