Greetings:
** Please do not reply to the list with any response that is not of general interest to
all. Send it to my personal address instead. Also, if necessary, remember to tell me which
list you are subscribed to (I'm admin for 18). **
I hope everyone has a safe and meaningful weekend, including those of you who are not
celebrating Canada Day or Independence Day (USA).
I will be leaving Illinois immediately upon finishing Month-End processing at work,
hopefully by 2 a.m., and will be driving to a family reunion in Maine. It's the 100th
anniversary year of the birth of my grandfather Derrick Allen DUTTON of Springfield,
Vermont. We are going to have a great time, God willing -- and I believe He is.
The practical effect of this is that I will be checking my e-mail much less frequently
than I ordinarily do, for much of the next two weeks. There are various situations where
this may affect you specifically. One is, you may need to remember how to SUBSCRIBE or
UNSUBSCRIBE from the list. The following instructions are true *all* of the time, not just
now, but I often step in to help if someone seems to have lost their way. This sort of
thing will be much slower for the first part of July on my 18 lists.
**DO NOT SEND A REPLY TO A LIST MESSAGE TO UNSUBSCRIBE** it simply doesn't work. It
goes to the wrong address. Here is how to do it. (Replace LISTNAME in what follows with
the actual list. For example, for NELSON-L(a)rootsweb.com the LISTNAME is "NELSON"
without the quotation marks.)
To unsubscribe, send a message to:
LISTNAME-L-request(a)rootsweb.com
Put in the subject line ONLY the following, single word, properly spelled:
unsubscribe
Put as the text of the message ONLY the following, single word, properly spelled; no
commentary, no explanation, etc.:
unsubscribe
If you can turn off your signature block, that sometimes helps the "list robots stay
focused". The same procedure can be followed to (re)subscribe to the list if for any
reason you think you have been bumped off. Just substitute, in the above, the single word
ONLY, properly spelled:
subscribe
in both the Subject and Message.
I am going to have a GREAT time this weekend. I may drop a note to the lists now and again
with a "progress report" if I get the time. All the best to all of you. I have a
great bunch of subscribers, and I appreciate every one of you.
