I believe my great uncle Frederick James Candy born Cardiff in Nov 1895 may have emigrated
to S. Africa around the time of the First World War. His parents were Frederick Candy and
Charlotte Roberts
The last possible record I have of him is from Sept 1926 when he returned to the UK as his
brother James was terminally ill. According to the record his permanent residence when
leaving the UK would be in other parts of British Empire than the UK.
The address given on arrival was Delville Wood Mem Com, South Africa House,Trafalga Sq,
London. I am aware that Delville Wood commemorates the sinking of the SS Mendi Darro,
troop ships in WW1.
I do not know if he married. As SA records are almost inpossible to obtain, any
information would be appreciated. Carolyn
