Dear Mary Jo,
I am familiar with Mary Canby, the daughter of Thomas & Sarah, but have little
information on her. I have seen her date of death given as both 1754 & 1794.
Most of the information on
Ancestry.com gives sources from "US International
Marriages" & Family Data Collections. While these are good starting points,
more information is needed to confirm these dates as correct.
I have their date of marriage as 1722. My sources for this date is:
Early Settlers of Solebury Township, Bucks County, Pa., (The Bucks County
Historical Society, Doylestown, Pa. 1971). Appendix B.
A Quaker Saga by Jane W.T. Brey
Neither of these sources give much more information about Mary & Joseph.
A better source for you might be:
Hampton History: an account of the Pennsylvania Hamptons in America in the line
of John Hampton, Jr., of Wrightstown; with an appendix treating of some other
branches
John Hampton Doan, 1911. This is a free e-book which you can find on Google
books.
Hopefully you will find some time to do some searching when you are off in
July. Please post your family information on the Canby list & maybe others can
help you.

Hi, guys.
I'm a member of this list, but it's usually very quiet.
I'm working and have two teenagers, so I can't spend a lot of time with my reply
at the moment. I'll be off for two weeks in July, so I hope to be able to
respond then.
I'm descended from Thomas Canby 1667-1742 and Sarah Jervis Canby ?-1708 through
their daughter, Mary Canby 1697-1794, who married Joseph Hampton 1702-1767.
Regards,
Mary Jo
