HI Julie,
I am Regina Murray Nau. My grandmother was Bridget Canavan who married my grandfather
Patrick Murray. Bridget descends from a Patrick Canavan, brother of your Anthony (father
of Michael). My grandmother came to Philadelphia in the 1920's. Several of her
siblings came between 1906 and 1915 including, Catherine, John, Thomas and Patrick (who
never made it as he was on the Titanic). I had no idea there were Canavan cousins in
Philadelphia.
My father always told me that we were related to the Mayock's but he was uncertain as
to the direct connection. There were Mayock's in Chester, PA and they were close with
my Philadelphia Canavan's
In looking at the 1920 census I see your family, John, Anna, Elizabeth, James and
Josephine with Anna's mother Elizabeth Ford living at 2922 3rd Street.
You are correct that Michael was the fahter of James, Anthony and John. I made a mistake
when I typed the information and clearly that makes more sense since Anthony would have
been close to 78 years old if I had been correct....????
I see that Bridget Kelly was a sponse to James Canavan. Bridget's mother was Bridget
Kelly - although I am not certain the Bridget that stood for James is my Bridget - it is
quite possible (I am certain there were a million Bridget Kelly's in the area at that
time.
Where in Philadelphia is your dad's brother? I am in the Philadelphia area....
I have an old photo with lots of people in it that I can not ID. I wonder if any of your
Canavan's are in the photo. I would like to send a copy to you if you would give me
your e-mail address.
Regina
