Hi it's 2013 I hope you still log in sometimes. I am looking for a great great Aunt of
mine and her name was Mary Ellen Canavan she arrived in Quebec in 1927 - her brother's
name was Vincent Canavan. It is possible that she could have been an unwed mother and had
to give up the child considering the year and the discrimination and of course propriety
(as a Domestic she would have been sent away to have the baby - Bronx doesn't sound so
far fetched). I was wondering if you were unable to unlock the secrets of your
father's adoption. Mary was born in 1907 Armagh - boarded a ship from Glasgow (with 1
pound in her pocket) to Quebec bound for Domestic work with a placement with the Salvation
Army in Toronto. I have requested information from the Salvation Army HQ but when I came
across your inquiry I made up the rest of the story (forgive me but all in all we are all
related somehow) - The dates and the names and her circumstances would seem to fit. Sorry
if this is nothing but a!
lead is a lead. I hope your father is well and happy and I hope you have found your
family. Thank you in advance for even considering my inquiry it is very much appreciated.
Yours Sincerely, Pauline.
