Hi it's been a while since I have looked at this. I have a letter from my gr father
and he has written in a letter that I have about some of the family. he says that his gr
father "George Buckeridge was a choirister in Salisbury Cathedral, England. They also
trained him as a monitor of printing. He went to monitor a printing press in Dublin and
while there he married Elizabeth Canavan who was Irish and connected with O'Haras
& O'Sheas, Irish clans. They emmigrated to Nelson(NZ) in 1863."
He goes on to write that "Grandfather was a sub-editor of the Nelson Examiner. At one
stage they owned some sections at Stratford South Taranaki.
He writes more on other peices of family as well but mainly about his father surveying the
first traverse of the Clarence River and others.
Hope this sheds some light.
Brian
