Carole: Evidently, my great-grandfather and great-grandmother John Canavan and Clarissa
Delamere were your gg-grandparents and their son John, Jr. (b. 1863) was a brother of my
grandfather Louis P. Canavan. (b. 1865). My family tree is not public, but I am happy to
share more specific information with those who have an interest, and will try to answer
questions. In some cases, I feel I can post information publicly as I did in my previous
post which you saw on the Ancestry Bulletin Board. In other cases, where I do not want to
post it publicly, I may answer an individual's question via Ancestry message (dmfleck)
or email (raymonda2(a)aol.com).
My previous post gave just about all the information I have on John Canavan (1828-1886). I
have little additional information about Clarissa Delamere.
My family tree tracks Louis P. Canavan and his wife (Amelia A. Bernier) and their
descendants. I also have a bit of information about John, Jr's and Louis' older
brother Richard (1855-1897).
I have not seen the Canavan Bible, but I have the following transcription: The cover says:
Holy Bible - John & Clarissa Canavan. It was published in 1859 and purchased 1861. It
has a Dedication of Original Edition - Catholics of the United Kingdom - England, Ireland,
and Scotland in admiration of the steady zeal with which they have kept the Deposit of
Faith.
For my family history narrative, I am especially interested in information about the roots
of John Canavan and of Clarissa Delamere in Ireland and the dates of their (probably
separate) immigrations to America and their experiences in America before and after they
married.
Raymond
