I know this post is rather old, but I'll reply to it anyway. My grandparents were from
Crossmolina, County Mayo, Ireland. Some relatives have helped me with details, but i am
not 100% sure of the accuracy. I believe my great great grandfather was a Patrick
Canavan. I'm not sure of his wife's name. I believe he fathered at least one
son, a Anthony J. Canavan (1839-1935) who was a farmer. Anthony J. Canavan had 9 children
in Crossmolina, County Mayo and they were:
Thomas;
Martin (b 1881) married Mary Keane;
Margaret
Ann (married a McGill);
Mary -born abt 1881, married Thomas Collins- children Winifred & Peggy (1913-2004);
Bridget (born 1884 or 1882, married Bartley Fahey (b. 1884) with children Marie 1913-1995,
Eileen 1916-2002, and Bart 1919-) lived in Connecticut,USA
John M. (Oct 27, 1889-Apr 20 1863, married Kathryn Matthews and had at least one child-
John, lived in Stamford, Connecticut USA;
James E. - born 1891, married Mame McGuinness, possibly moved to Chicago, Illinois USA and
had children Gertrude, James E. and Mame.
My grandfather was Anthony J. Canavan born 1879-1964. He moved to Connecticut, married
Catherine Fitzgerald and had 4 children- John J (my father), Kathleen M., Edward J., and
Helen.
Do we have any matches??
