Luther H. "Pete" Canady Jr.
Swainsboro - Luther H. "Pete" Canady, Jr., 78, died on Wednesday, March 19,
2003, at his residence after an extended illness. Mr. Canady was a native of
Emanuel County and a World War II Army veteran. He was owner and operator of
Canady Supply Co., and was a contractor and a partner with Swainsboro
Concrete Co. He was a member of The First Baptist Church, the Mens
Progressive Sunday School Class and had served on the Board of Trustees. He
was son of the late Luther H. and Etta Smith Canady and grandfather of the
late Benton Canady. Survivors: his wife, Grace Benton Canady of Swainsboro;
daughters and son-in-law, Linda and Terry Cantrell of Lilburn and Nancy
Pierce of Savannah; son and daughter-in- law, Larry and Regina Canady of
Swainsboro; sisters, Margaret Scott of Bloomingdale, Betty Smith of Savannah,
and June Neel of Houston, TX; six grandchildren, Amy Harris of Cumming, Katie
Cantrell of Lilburn, Mac and Corey Canady of Swainsboro, and Haley Pierce of
Savannah; and great-granddaughter, Avery Elizabeth Harris of Cumming.
Visitation: 6:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday at Peebles-Curry- Durden Mortuary.
Funeral Services: 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 21 at the First Baptist Church
with Dr. Bob Blankenship officiating. Burial: Swainsboro City Cemetery.
Pallbearers: Don Flanders Bob Youmans, Billy Holder, Mike Youmans, Bill
Devane, Mike Ashley, Franklin Edenfield, and Richard Daniels. Honorary
Pallbearers: Members of the Progressive Sunday School Class, Howard Kersey,
