No, I'm Caucasian, Jeanette. My mother was born in Leake Co. also, and
that's the side of my family that had the Canady's, but I don't think any of
her Canady's ever made it to Mississippi. They might have, but I don't know
about them. My last connection to the Canady's was my great grandmother on
my mother's side, and she married a Gilbert. Her father was a Caleb Canady,
born in about 1770-1773, if you ever run across him. He was in Putnam Co.
and Campbell Co., GA before going to Tallapoosa Co., Alabama.
Thanks for writing.

Dear Sue,
Is your Canady family caucasian or African-American? My husband ( a Canady
and an African-American) was born in Leake Co., MS. While I have some
material, this has been a difficult family to research.
Sincerely,
Jeanette Davidson Canady

Canady is one of the 24 ways that Canada, Kenady, Kennady, Kennedy etc. is
spelled.
It's meaning in Gaelic is "ugly head".
