I wish I could help, but I don't know of any of my family in that region of the
country. If I find that I am wrong, I'll get back with you.
Good Luck!!!

Subject: [CANADY] J. Henry CANADY and / or John Jefferson CANADY
Hi,
Looking for help with a CANADY problem ;)
J. Henry CANADY was married to Lucinda Elizabeth TURNER and had one
known son:
John Jefferson CANADY
He was born in 1869 in Kansas. According to his death cert he was
born in Chetopa which is in Labette Co but another researcher posted
that he was born in Greenwood Co. I would think that Labette is more
likely as it is on the border of OK close to AR. Elizabeth TURNER,
his mother, was living in Fulton Co., AR in 1860. J. Henry CANADY is
supposedly from Tennessee. There is no sign of them in Kansas on the
1870 census but as all of Elizabeth's family was living in Oklahoma by
1865 it is possible that they were there or she was there by herself
with her son as, by 1880, she was a widow living in Erath Co., TX. She
was born in 1846 so it is likely that J. Henry was born in the 1840s
or earlier.
If anyone has a lost J. Henry CANADY from TN please let me know.
