William,
I saw your note to Carolyn Sue and the info that you mentioned that your Grandfather
changed his name to Kennedy from Cannady/Canady is of great interest to me. I am a Canady
with relatives from Emanuel County and along with a few cousins have extensive family
knowledge of the Cannady/Canady line. I do a lot of Cannady/Canady research and in fact
have just left the Mormon Library in SLC and will return there in a few days. My line is
from William E. Cannady from the Swainsboro/Twin City area. I had info that one of the
sons of William's brothers had changed the name to Kennedy. I wonder if that is your
grandfather? All of my cousins and I are stopped in our research (verified) with the
father of William E., James H., and Daniel B Cannady. Do you have the descendants of the
John Cannady of Darlington, SC.? Would certainly like to communicate with you on your
research and findings. If you would be so kind to provide me with a phone number, I would
be delighted to spe!
ak with you.
I live in Southern California and travel home to Ga. often and spend a great deal of time
researching the Cannady/Canady/Kennedy info. I am currently on vacation traveling
throughout the Western US. Would love to make contact with you.
Regards,
Bob Canady

Hello, Carolyn Sue:
For the past several years I have been collecting information off the
internet as it might relate to my family. While my name is now Kennedy,
it had been changed from Cannady/Canady by my Grandfather some
125 years ago. My group was and is centered around the Metter/
Statesboro,
Emanuel County area of Georgia. I have traced back as far as a John
Cannady
located in the Darlington, SC area in the early 1800's, but ran into
a block
there. If you have any info on this clan, I'll be very glad to share
any info I have
in my files. However, I have virtually nothing to offer regarding
the areas and
dates you have cited below.
Good luck on your search.
