Thanks for writing. Unless the author gives a birth record in England
I think he/she is incorrect on James's birth. All records i have seen
show that Elizabeth was supposedly from England and was a teenage gal
when she married James, but James was born in Virginia. The old
Cannaday house is still standing and has all sorts of ghost stories
about it. It is still owned by one of my cousins whom I visit almost
every summer in Henry Co. (which is the parent county of Franklin). I
have not seen the Akers book but will look for it when in Franklin Co.
next summer; however, I do think it is in err. Lets keep on working
on these Cannadays and maybe we can get them nailed down sometime. I
keep saying old William must have been under the Witness Protection
Program because I can't connect him to the Cannadays who were in
Virginia and Maryland in the 1600s or the Quaker Cannadays in early
N.C. where my Underwoods lived and where I think my Underwood/Cannaday
marriage took place. Alas, I shall keep working. Seriously, thanks a
million for writing. Billie

Billie, you identified Wm. Sr. Canaday, who was the father of James
Canaday (who married Elizabeth Raikes), who were the parents of
"Patrick Billie". Regarding JAMES: have you seen the book "The Akers
Family of Franklin Co., Virginia" by Alonzo Edwin Akers? In that
book, it reports that James "came to this country from England with
his wife...."
I don't know how reliable the information is in that book, but if it
is correct,
wouldn't your William Sr. have been born in England???
