I do not know if these lines are tied and I am throwing this in as food for thought. John
Kennedy/Kannaday b.1730 Tinicum, Bucks Co. Penn (R.S.) listed children in his will of
1798/1799 that his children were Andrew (& his son John), John Jr.(b. 1777), Mary
(married Micajah Wilkerson), Rhoda (m. Jesse Farmer), Hester and Stephen. The will was
found in Screven, Tattnall and Columbia Counties, GA. John Sr.'s wife Elizabeth d.
1798/1799. Both were buried in Tattnall County GA. Does anyone have any information on
Andrew Kennedy/Kannaday of Columbia Co,GA or his son John? There are so many John,
William, Andrew, Stephen, Samuel, Solomon, Edmund, Hugh, Daniel Kennedys that pass down
the same names. As I have seen...John Jr. was born @1777 in SC.
Of interest the John Sr. was reported to have at least 2 brothers that travelled to
Colonial GA and had large plantations along the Savannah. These brothers were reportedly
Hugh and William Kennedy. I have read that a William Kennedy of Effingham married an
Elizabeth Quillen. A son of Hugh Kennedy was William John C. (possibly Cicero) Kennedy
who married Elizabeth Treutlen, dtr of John Adam Treutlen (1st Governor of GA, and a
Salzburger of GA). The children of William J.C. and Elizabeth Kennedy have been listed as
Ruben (died @ 7 y/o) Benjamin and Mary. I recently met a woman who was accepted into the
DAR under Mary Kennedy, d/o William J.C. Kennedy and Elizabeth Treutlen.
5 Kennaday/Kennedy/Cannaday/Cannady men applied for and received land (or reregistered the
land in the new county) in Emanuel County (b. 1812). Our John's land deed was
witnessed by a John and William Cannady/Kennedy. The other Emanuel County
Kennedy/Kannaday/Cannaday/Cannady men were Henry, Samuel, Solomon and Edmond. We believe
Edmond was b. @1730 as he died @1828/1829 reportedly close to 100 years of age.
I hope this might help someone and maybe someone might be able to help me with our block
wall.
