Here is what my father Charles J. Canaday has researched so far. He has not
been able to find any Canaday's before Samuel.
Samuel Canaday (b. 1787 d.1841) married Lovina Pharis
They had 7 children: Rosoline (my gggrandfather), Milo, Solomon, Mary, Emma
& Spicer
My ggrandfather's name was William and my grandfather's name was Charles H.
Let me know what other information you have on Solomon, etc.

Subject: [CANADAY] Re: Canaday Name
I have just started researching the Canady/Canaday family name. My
grandfather
was David Milo Canady who moved from Ohio to Illinois on to
Wessington, S. Dakota. His father was Solomon Ferris Canady born in Clark
County, Ohio in 1835. He married Margaret Chiles Moore in 1865. She had 3
children from Moore and one child, my grandfather ,from Solomon. Today, I
received information from the Clark County, Ohio genealogical society that
indicates Solomon's father was Samuel Canaday. I recall my father telling
me that a great-grandfather had dropped an a from the name. The
genealogical society had information that indicated Samuel Canady was born
1787 and married Lavinia Phares and they had a child, Rosoline, with no
mention of other children. It appears that if Rosoline had siblings named
Solomon and Milo that he would be my gggrandfather. They also have
information on a Samuel H. Canaday who was married to a Sally. If it
appears this is the same family, please contact!
me. I would appreciate any information you might have and I can send
you
information on the family of David Milo. Sharon
