Jesse Canada has been one of my major brick walls for
several years now. I'm delighted to report, the wall is finally
coming down! The last morning of a research trip to Northeastern
Missouri, I found an 1856 deed in Adair County courthouse signed by
Mary Ann's father and siblings, including Mary Ann Canada "widow of
Jesse deceased". The accompanying 1855 deed identified James and
Elizabeth Adams "of Sullivan County, MO". A transcription of both
Adair Co. deeds is the first deed listed here:

Playing a hunch, I contacted a researcher in Sullivan
County, MO --- a transcription of all the papers in Jesse Canada's
probate packet is located at the URL below. The probate packet for
Jesse at the Macon County courthouse (transcription at same URL) is
nothing more than the guardian records for his minor children with
Mary Ann (Adams).

One word of warning about the Ralls County, MO
records. There is another "James & Elizabeth Adams" couple in
Missouri who might be the couple who signed the 1830 Ralls Co.
deed. Also, the William Adams who died 1830 in Ralls County, MO is
NOT the William Adams who died 1823 in Harrison County,
Kentucky. These records are important for us to know about, but we
can't ASSUME they are the parents (or that either of the Williams is
grandparent) of Mary Ann until more is known.
I'll be delighted to exchange data with other researchers.
