Listers
On a list of 24.200 gold-miners published in the Family Chronicle of Sept/Oct 1966 I have
found two Leanders who might be my uncles, but there was no more information about the
persons on the list. On the Census from 1901 and 1902 from the Alaska-Yukon Directory and
Gazetter I have found Axel Leander, tailor in Nome and A. Leander, miner in Teller City.
My uncle Axel Albin Leander was born 1872-06-27 in Lämås, Karlskoga in Sweden and
emigrated 1892-06-03, and August Alexander Leander was born 1876-05-02 in Lämås, Karlskoga
and emigrated 1896-09-09. From the passenger lists from 1900 of Steamer Oregon of Seattle
and Steamer Senator of San Fransisco I have also had the names A. Leander. I have been
recommended to look in the newspapers covering Nome and Teller City 1901-1902. It has been
said that personal information about the gold miners sometimes was published in the
papers. Is there anyone on the list, who could check this for me in the papers Teller
News, Nome Nugget, Nom!
e Gold Digger, Nome News, Nome Chronicle and the Arctic Weekly Sun? If there are any
expences in connection with this I am of course ready to pay this. Thanking you very much
in advance I remain
Sincerely Yours
