Hiya Frances, thankyou so much for that information, I will definately have
to get my little mitts on that chart even though I know nothing about
shorthand.
At the moment I am concentrating on the East Anglian Camplings but I will
move up to the North East next and of course if I find any information that
will be of help to you I will send it on.
Once again thankyou for your time Frances it is much appreciated.
Take care, Karen

Karen: As I cannot get to my chart, I will tell you what I recall
about
it. I visited the National Society of Genealogists, suburb of London,
where I looked for info on all of my English ancestors. Lovick was one
name of interest. Mr. George Charters of the London library for Irish
ancestors told me that he believed that surname was of Norse lineage.
You will find many of that name earlier living on the northeast area of
England. So his idea makes good sense. By checking an index at the NSG
for Lovicks, I located the chart as there were several incidence of
intermarriage with Campling persons. I regret to say that although the
chart is written in English the names are written so small and without
much reasoning (as far as I could tell) in their placement that it is
hard to follow. The writer also uses a great deal of shorthand which
seems to be Gregg. I used to use Gregg when I was a secretary but just
could not read the diminutive writing in the chart.
If you want to see the chart look in their index of articles held in the
stacks which have to be requested. The name Lovett is also part of the
chart.
Now if you have already done some research on Campling you may be able to
find some names you will recognize. If you find a link to Lovick please
let me know. One of these days I will be able to get to the chart and
look for it. Good luck. My Lovick ancestor came to America about 1718
when he was 20 years old. If by some chance my memory fails, ask at Tew
because I also worked at PRO when it was in London. However, I am 99%
sure that I got the chart at NSG. Frances Etheredge
