Hi
My Name is William A. Campion, Sr. (Bill), I live in Berlin, Maryland. I
have been tracking my fathers family history. I have one family member by
the name of James Greenslade Campion, Sometimes spelled Campin. That
lived in St. Johns, Newfoundland. He was a servant and on 12 Jan. 1865 at
the St John's Cathedral (C of E) He married Selina Eliza Bowens or Bowns.
It can be found at the Parish Records, Cathedral (C of E), PANL, Box 4,
Marriages: No. 27,. Married by George M. Johnson in the Presence of John
Coale, Austin? Lush, Elizabeth Shure, John Meacey and Mary Meacey.
They had 8 Children:
Born: 26 Feb. 1868 William Henry Campin
Born: 19 Dec. 1869 James Greenslade Campin
Born: 29 May, 1871 Kenneth Prouse Campin
Born: 22 Apr., 1873 Rebekah Grace Campin
Born: 5 Mar., 1875 Selina Eliza Campin
Born:2 Sep.,1865Emma Jane Campen (was spelled this way in the paper work)
Born: 19 Oct.,1866 Samuel Thomas Camping. (also in the paper work)
Born: 5 Mar., Rebecca Grace Campin
Kenneth P. was my grandfather, I have his history
One of the Rebekahs died
Samuel Thomas also died
The rest of the children disappeared and I can't find them!
I would like to know the parents of James Greenslade that married Selina
Bowen or Bown ( I've seen both spellings). Where was James Greenslade
Campion Born and when did he come to Newfoundland.
I think that James came from Ilsington, Devon, England ??? I also think
his name at birth was James Lewis Campion and born to George Campion and
Sarah Laskey on 10 Feb., 1833, Ilsington, Devon, England. But was it he
who changed his name to Greenslade? If not who is James Greenslade
Campin?????
I have been at this for about 10 years , I have what I believe to be my
family back to 1777 all the names fit to well not to be them. But I need
some proof so I can tie into the rest of the family.
PLEASE can you help me? I need someone in St Johns, Newfoundland to help
me!
Any help you can give me will be most welcome and happily received.
I would be willing to pay a pro. genealogist if the cost is not
to high as I'm on a limited income and retired.
Yours with high hopes.
Bill Campion
