Campeau, Joseph
JOSEPH BRUNO CAMPEAU Born March 15, 1918 in Chrysler, Ontario, Canada and died February 1,
2007 in Idaho. Joe was the fourth of six children of Exzenophile J. and Marie Anne
Campeau. In 1920 the Campeau family moved to Charlotte, Vermont. In 1925 Marie Anne died,
the children were separated and placed in other homes. His grandmother in Martintown,
Ontario, Canada, reared Joe. One of his first jobs was as a miner for International Nickel
in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada. He moved in 1937 to work for Republic Steel in Lyon Mtn., New
York. In 1940 Joe was drafted into the Army and served with the 327th Infantry. He was
wounded in the Marshall Islands and received the Purple Heart. Joe married the love of his
life Madeleine duBray (deceased) on July 18, 1941. He and Madeleine made their home in
Troy, New York and in 1947 their daughter Ellen was born. In 1959 they moved to Encino,
California. He was employed for over 25 years by Rocketdyne. In 1991 Joe retired and moved
to Boise, Ida!
ho to be near his daughter, Ellen. Joe and Madeleine are interred at Idaho State
Veteran's Cemetery. Joe leaves behind his daughter, Ellen and husband Curtis Carney;
sister, Rose Masse (92) Heritage, Tennessee; brother, Bill Campeau (86) Tarzana,
California; grandson, Lee; granddaughter, Natasha; and many nieces and nephews.
