Mary Toerner, 69, a resident of Flagstaff for the past 40 years, passed away at her home
Thursday, June 27, 2002.
Toerner was born February 11, 1933, in Nacogdoches, Texas. She was raised in Texas and
graduated from Stephen F. Austin University. She then taught English
in the public schools.
She moved to Flagstaff in 1962, and married Dick Toerner in 1971. She was a member of the
Daughters of the American Revolution, served as Regional
Commissioner of the Clan Campbell U.S.A., and was a member of the San Francisco de Asis
Parish.
Survivors incluce her husband, Dick, of Flagstaff; her sons James Sweeney of Washington,
Patrick of Colorado and Richard Toerner of Pennsylvania; her
daughters Kathy Snide of Connecticut, Tammy Ply of Utah, Peggy Sweeney of Connecticut and
Mary Wolfe of Flagstaff; and 10 grandchildren.
Rosary and Vigil services will be at 7 p.m. Monday, July 1, 2002, at Our Lady of Guadalupe
Chapel. Funeral Mass will be held there at 11 a.m. the next day. Burial
will follow at the Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations in Mary's name to be sent
to Northland Hospice, P.O. Box 997, Flagstaff, Arizona, 86002
