Ropberta,
As I think you meant to put it; the darker color of tartan is Black Watch,
the lighter version of the pattern (called 'sett' when tartan is involved)
is the 'ancient Campbell'.

Black watch is what some call acient Campbell and thier colors are the same
as I can tell...black blue green only differents I can see is one is darker
than the other...The Campbell Tartan has no other colors but the
black-green-blue and that means no other colored strips..why there seems to
be a lot of yellow and white strips gets and I have ask why and the say they
don't know..it may have something to do with septs. hope have helped a

I have seen references that the Black Watch tartan is synonymous with the
Campbell tartan. Is this true or are they distinctly different?
