What a wonderful story!! Now to the difficult task to verify it. I should
think you need to join a Scottish list and locate the records of Scottish
nobility. As to the Military
records, that should be on record in Brtain, and perhaps jioning a British
military list would be of assistance. It appears you have both Scottish
Nobility and British Military research to do. Captain James Cook would be
in numerous books at the library and even in the encyclopedia. Don't forget
to do a
www.google.com search for places, records, names, etc. to also see
what might come up that you could email or write to. I'm an American, so we
really need a British researcher to jump in here and help! Best of Luck,
and I shall want to hear all the outcome of your reseach! Exciting!

Subject: Campbell family story
I have been trying to locate an Aylmer Edwin Campbell wo was born early
1800
and died in Australia in 1854. He was a ship captain. I cannot find
him
arriving in Australia or any record of him before his marriage in 1839 in
Sydney Australia.
I have recntly found a letter from a now deceased long lost relative why
gives the following information
"My record show that Captain Aylmer Campbell was the first son of Lord
Campberll, head of the aHouse of Campbell in Scotland. The Captain had
given up his claim to the Title and dericded to come to Australia. His
father Lord Campbell was a decendant of the General Campbell who relieved
Lucknow in Infdia during the Indian Mutiny. He was a personal friend of
Captain James Cook who used to regularly visit their home in Scotland.
Five families , Campbell, Cribb Fooite Borthwick and Foster. .
Captain Aylmer Campbell encouraged his brother to come to Australia from
Scotland and he settled in Brisbane. His brother was James. Apparently
he
would have inherited the Title, then but when he died it would have
passed
to Alexander Campbell the youngest son born in 1849. This title was
obtained by Lord Campbell who was a general in the AIndian Mutiny and he
was
given the Title afterward. There is a picture somewhere among the
Campbell
family of Lord Kitchener dancing with Queen Victoria and Lord
Campbell
was
in the same phjotograph in the same party.
Can anyone help me with any of this. How can I vertify any of it?.
Aylmer Campbell is a lot harder to find than I thought.
