Campbell man takes reins of Scottish society

The Scottish-American Society of the Southern Tier inaugurated its fifth
chief at a program Saturday in Painted Post.

Thomas McIntyre of Campbell was sworn into office by society parliamentarian
Phyllis MacDonnell in the presence of the four previous chiefs.McIntyre, a
retired Marine Corps captain and businessman, is a member of the Steuben County
Legislature. He succeeds George Cunningham of Elmira, Donald Campbell of
Painted Post, Douglas Colborn of Elmira and Donald Flatt of Watkins Glen as leader
of the society, which promotes Scottish cultural heritage. The society evolved
from the Caledonian Highland Bagpipe Band in the mid-1970s.
